Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Religion plays a significant role in the political dynamics of many regions in Nigeria, especially in Sokoto North Local Government, Sokoto State, where religious identities often influence political decisions and campaigns. This study will explore the ways in which religion shapes political campaign strategies in Sokoto North and its impact on voter behavior and election outcomes. The investigation will examine how political candidates and parties leverage religious affiliations to mobilize support (Yakubu & Mohammed, 2024).

1.2 Statement of the Problem
